Jennifer Aniston gives lockdown remix of Friends theme song by JC Stewart her approval

Irish singer JC Stewart has said he has “peaked so unbelievably hard” after Jennifer Aniston revealed she was a fan of his lockdown remix of the Friends theme song.

Swapping out the iconic lyrics to ‘I’ll Be There for You’ for more 2020-appropriate ones, the tune saw Stewart sing about binging Netflix's Tiger King, staring into the fridge and being confused about when lockdown will end.

Aniston shared Stewart’s video to her Instagram stories yesterday, which Stewart titled ‘If they filmed Friends in 2020.’

He screen grabbed the moment before it could disappear and put it on his Twitter, writing, “So. Jennifer Aniston put me on her Instagram story.”

“It is at this point that I would like to announce my retirement due to having peaked so unbelievably hard,” he continued.

His short cover of the song saw Stewart start off with The Raconteurs’ original lyrics, but then swap them out for ones that included, “It looks like we’ll be inside for a year but it might only be a day, a week, a month - it’s really not clear.”

The video also saw Stewart play guitar at home as he opened his fridge multiple times over the course of fifteen minutes, stare dead-eyed into distance as he lounged upside down on the couch and bother a woman as he clapped over her.

It continued, “I’ll be here all day looking into the fridge, I’ll be here all day just binging Tiger King.”

Stewart spoke with Metro about the unexpected shout out from Aniston, which he said was “mental.”

“It was mental, I don’t really know why that happened! I didn’t believe it was real. I woke up and my phone was just going nuts, and I was like 'Oh Jennifer Aniston’s story.'‘

He did, however, call Aniston “a bit sly” as she hadn’t actually tagged him in her stories, nor had she reached out to him. “She’s drifted into the distance,” he joked.

Stewart, who describes himself as a “professional sad boy” on social media, is also a professional musician and recently released a song called 'Lying That You Love Me.' His music is available to stream on Spotify.
