Bunnie Xo has said she is “still having a baby” with Jelly Roll despite their impending divorce.
After the musician, 41, filed for divorce from his wife of nearly a decade, she has now revealed they are still moving forward with plans to have a baby together.
On the latest episode of her podcast Dumb Blonde, Bunnie – real name Alisa DeFord – said her listeners would need to “understand why this is happening, where this is coming from, and what we’re doing moving forward”.
“We’re literally settling our divorce in like … we’ve done it in like, what? Three weeks? Two weeks?” she said, before adding: “We’re still having a baby together.”
“So, we have been the most unconventional couple that you guys have ever encountered. We’re going to co-parent together. J is my best friend. Like, this isn’t what you guys think this is. Nobody cheated on the other person. It’s literally just we served our purpose for each other.”
Bunnie then said their fans were “so hung up” on their past, but now their “future is so much more important and being happy and healthy and best friends through this is probably the biggest gift that we could have given each other”.
She then shared that during their marriage, she and Jelly Roll – real name Jason Bradley DeFord – had tried to get pregnant several times, but lost four embryos.
“It wrecked me emotionally, spiritually, physically. In a way, I kind of think J and I are trauma-bonded,” she said.
In her memoir Stripped Down, which was published in February, the podcaster shared that she and her husband had found a surrogate and Bunnie planned to start IVF soon after.
But after the couple had an argument on Mother’s Day, she told her husband to “file divorce papers”, after which she packed a bag and left their home.
“He was so mad and we were so emotional that he ended up doing exactly what I told him to do and filing the divorce papers,” she said on her podcast.
Bunnie then said their split was “not mutual” and she had only made the comment about filing divorce papers “out of anger and frustration”.
Although she had wanted to go to therapy, her husband did not agree. Despite this, she said ending their marriage was happening on “the best possible terms”.
Bunnie then shared that, as part of their settlement, she would move into their compound with their future child.
“I’m so excited to live my life through a child’s eyes, which is why this baby journey, I’m not going to let it break me, and I’m not going to deter it,” she said.
“We’re just going to raise little Nugget as one big happy family.’
Jelly Roll has also spoken publicly about their divorce and supported his estranged wife.
Speaking on stage at the Saratoga Springs, New York, show of his Little Ass Shed Tour, he told the audience: “While we’re talking about liars, the internet is a liar too. This is the only time and the only city I’m going to speak about this, so break your camera phones out now.”
“Me and my wife are best friends; we will always be best friends. I will love her. She will probably be the only woman I’ll ever love the way I loved her,” he said, also later sharing a clip of the moment to his Instagram.
After mentioning he and Bunnie had spoken on the phone that day, he shut down speculation there was cheating involved in their marriage break-down.
“Nobody cheated on nobody. She just did a whole podcast about it. You can go watch it. Every word of it is truth,” he said.
He added: “That will be my best friend forever. Bunnie, I love you baby.”
The couple got married in August 2016, with Jelly Roll thanking his wife on stage for an “incredible” 10 years before adding: “Thank you for the next 10 years of friendship and 20 beyond that.”
Jelly Roll filed for divorce last month, with the grounds for divorce listed as irreconcilable differences.
At the 2026 Grammy Awards in February, the musician thanked his wife during his speech after winning best contemporary country album.
“I would have never changed my life without you. I would have ended up dead or in jail. I would have killed myself if it wasn’t for you and Jesus. I thank you for that,” he said.
