Jeffrey Wright, the 58-year-old American Fiction actor, had a memorable day when he learned about his Oscar nomination. The news reached him while he was at home in Brooklyn, and he described the moment as heartwarming. Surrounded by a flurry of texts, phone calls, and well-wishes, Wright felt moved by the outpouring of support.

Later that day, he had the joy of driving his daughter back to college, marking the end of her Christmas vacation. Wright reflected on this experience as one of the best ways to celebrate his nomination.

In the film 'American Fiction,' Wright portrays Monk, a Black author grappling with the disparity in book sales between his work and those perpetuating racial stereotypes. The character's decision to write under a pen name leads to unexpected success but also entangles him in a web of deceit with potentially grave consequences.

On February 25, Wright clinched an Independent Spirit Award and shared a heartfelt moment with his son Elijah at the ceremony. Expressing his love for his family, Wright acknowledged the pivotal role they play in his life.

The 96th Academy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, are scheduled to be broadcast live on Sunday, March 10, from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California, starting at 7 p.m. ET.
