What makes a great conductor? Did Wagner know how to end his operas? And what happened when Jeffrey Tate's glasses landed in the lap of a viola player during a performance of Lulu?
Just some of the questions conductor Jeffrey Tate fields during this interview with Christopher Cook – part of the In Conversation series from the Royal Opera House.
Tate began his conducting career at the Royal Opera house in the 1970s, and he is returning for a revival of Der fliegende Hollander, directed by Tim Albery. The production opens on 18 October 2011 and runs on 21, 26, 29 October, and 1 and 4 November.
