Jeffrey Schlupp has a message for Crystal Palace fans after sustaining season-ending injury

Crystal Palace midfielder Jeffrey Schlupp has vowed to come back stronger after being ruled out for the rest of the season through injury.

The versatile former Leicester City man went off with an ankle injury in the Eagles' recent defeat against Manchester City, with Palace forced into an early substitution during the game as a result.

Palace boss Roy Hodgson said yesterday (Friday) that the injury will now rule him out for the rest of the season , ahead of the Eagles' clash against Arsenal tomorrow (Sunday) - one of four Premier League games remaining for the south London side.

"We have been a little bit unlucky in this latter period," he said, speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Palace's game against Arsenal on Sunday.

"It started with Mamadou [Sakho], then we lost James [Tomkins] and now we've lost Jeff [Schlupp], which is of course three big blows for us.

'No Wan-Bissaka?' - Ian Wright sums up how Palace fans are feeling amid PFA award nominations

"He won't play again this season, the ankle injury is such that it will take the three or so weeks we have left [to heal].

"Fortunately, we don't have quite so many other injuries to deal with but we are getting down to our bare bones, but I guess we aren't along in that respect, late in the season teams do get depleted."

And Schlupp has now sent a message to Palace supporters on social media, adding that the hard work starts for him now as he looks to bounce back from the injury.

He said: "Unfortunately my season has come to an end a few weeks early due to an injury. Time to work hard and come back stronger ready for pre-season."

Schlupp, who can play in defence or in midfield, has scored five goals in 37 appearances for the Eagles this season.
