Social media lost its mind over a photo of a tomato over the weekend, which seems pretty weird.
But it was not weird. Because the tomato in question looks a whole lot like NBA legend Larry Bird, and A LOT of people thought so. It was pretty hilarious and all in good fun. Also, it really does look like Bird.
But Jeff Van Gundy had a different take.
When shown the Bird tomato photo while he was calling Wednesday’s Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics, he said, “Now that’s disrespectful. That guy was … what a competitor.” He and Mike Breen then went on to salute Bird’s incredible skill.
But it’s not disrespectful of Bird’s skills! The tomato just happens to look like him!
