Jeff Stelling leaves Soccer Saturday as Sky Sports stalwart follows Charlie Nicholas and Matt Le Tissier out the door

Jeff Stelling has announced he will leave Sky Sports Soccer Saturday at the end of the season.

Stelling has been a fixture of the flagship show since the mid-1990s when broadcasters began piling money into the English Premier League.

He has become one of the most recognisable faces in UK football over the course of his 27 years anchoring the show.

It had been reported Stelling was unhappy with Sky Sports since Charlie Nicholas and Matt Le Tissier's respective departures.

And he has now announced he will leave the show come the end of the 2021/22 season.

He said: "I have come to the incredibly difficult decision that this will be my last season.

"This is my decision - there has been no pressure. Sky have been absolutely brilliant with me, as they always have been.

"I am not intending to retire but it is time to let somebody else have a go at what is the best job in the world."
