Jeff Okudah is the pick for Redskins in new 2020 mock

With quarterback for the long-term outlook already addressed, the Washington Redskins go an interesting new route in a fresh 2020 mock draft.

Thanks to a best-player-available approach, the Redskins come away with Ohio State corner Jeff Okudah in a mock from Michael Renner of Pro Football Focus:

Back-to-back Buckeyes, as Young and Okudah are the two highest defensive players on our board. Okudah has only given up a passer rating of 58.4 in his coverage for his career. He has all the length and athleticism to be a shut-down man corner in the NFL.

Okudah certainly looks the part of the draft’s top corner so far and for the Redskins it’s a brilliant move considering the current roster.

Pass rush is still a blend of strong and high upside thanks to Ryan Kerrigan and Montez Sweat, so starting to add to a secondary that will eventually look to phase out the likes of Josh Norman makes sense.

A top-tier shutdown corner paired with a strong pass rush is a good way to combat the NFC East these days, so it’s a smart blueprint the Redskins should look to achieve in this sort of fashion.
