Jeff Okudah announces he’s had core muscle surgery

Lions rookie cornerback Jeff Okudah will not play again in 2020. While he’s still technically on Detroit’s 53-man active roster, Okudah revealed his season is over.

In a social media post, Okudah announced he had surgery to repair some core muscle damage. It’s more commonly known as a sports hernia. The rookie said his surgery was successful in repairing an issue that dates back to his days at Ohio State. His rehabilitation is already underway.

Okudah also noted he graduated from Ohio State in the message, thanking friends, fans and family for supporting him.

Expect Okudah to be placed on I.R. by the Lions quickly. His rookie season ends with 47 total tackles, one INT, four TFLs and four PDs in nine games.
