Jeff Heuerman happy to have experienced Joe Flacco leading Broncos

There’s a new quarterback in Broncos Country.

Joe Flacco, a Super Bowl champion and 12th-year veteran, will be leading Denver’s offense in 2019. It’s safe to say the players that played with the team’s previous QBs over the last few years are happy with the switch.

“He’s great,” tight end Jeff Heuerman said on May 14. “Joe’s been around. He’s seen just about everything you can see in this league. His experience is huge for us, and it’s nice.

“He’s a great quarterback and he brings that experience side and that confidence from being around and doing so much. It’s nice to play with him.”

The Broncos did have a veteran QB last year in Case Keenum, but he was a journeyman was a limited track record of success. Before that, the Broncos had young prospects Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch.

Flacco is a big upgrade. With him under center, the Broncos will be hoping to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2015.

“His experience factor is huge for us,” Heuerman said. “To have a guy calling plays that’s been around — what year is he on? Twelve? Yeah, he’s got a lot of experience on a lot of guys. That’s huge at the quarterback position.

“There are a lot of us that really appreciate that and it helps kind of the flow of the offense and getting everybody where they need to be and what they need to do.”
