Jeff Hendrick shares emotional goodbye to Burnley fans as AC Milan speculation mounts

Jeff Hendrick has bid farewell to Burnley fans after four years as speculation mounts that he could be on his way to AC Milan.

The Republic of Ireland midfielder joined the club after impressing at Euro 2016, but has been unable to come to terms on a contract extension and is now a free agent.

And as his time with the Clarets ticked away, the 28-year-old has been linked with a move to other Premier League clubs - while AC Milan have also been touted as a potential destination.

But as Hendrick officially departed the club, he thanked Burnley fans and urged them to get behind the current manager and players.

In an Instagram post, Hendrick said: "It’s been a good few years with some memorable results. Finishing 7th with a little club like Burnley as they say was something else. The crowd noise don’t go unnoticed and it really helps push the lads on so keep it up.

“You have a great group of lads representing your club so keep being their 12th man and help them in the last few games and next year. I can’t speak highly enough of the lads there, they deserve nothing but praise for their efforts week in week out.

“Cheers. Goodbye and thanks again.”

Hendrick's links to AC Milan remain speculation, the seven-time European champions have not confirmed their interest while AS Roma are also rumoured to be interested.

With Serie A and the Premier League still a long way away from finishing, it's likely that speculation over the Dubliner's future could continue in the coming weeks.
