Jeep used to rip cash machine from Worksop shop in 'pre-planned hit'

A group of people reportedly used a chain tied to a 4x4 to break into a cash machine during a "pre-planned hit" on a Co-op store.

Officers responded to reports of a ram raid at the Co-op store in Plantation Hill, Worksop, at around 12.15am this morning (Friday, July 3).

Nottinghamshire Police says a group of people used power tools to access the cash machine in the shop, before ripping the front of the machine off with a chain tied to a 4x4.

It has been reported a silver 4x4 was used during the incident.

Detective Inspector Steve Wragg said: “This was clearly a pre-planned hit, which has caused a lot of disruption to a valued local business.

“Our investigation into this is well underway. We have spoken to a number of witnesses and are in the process of reviewing any CCTV which is available to us.

"However, I would still encourage anyone with information, and in particular anyone who may have seen a silver 4x4 in the area, to come forward.

“We’re determined to find those responsible and to make sure that crime does not pay.”
