Jedward vs Ian Brown is the celebrity feud nobody saw coming

It’s more than fair to say 2020 has delivered plenty of surprises, but this latest twist is amusing at least.

Ian Brown, of Stone Roses fame, shocked fans earlier this month when he appeared to call for vital pandemic safety measures to be lifted.

“NO LOCKDOWN NO TESTS NO TRACKS NO MASKS NO VAX #researchanddestroy,” he tweeted.

Unsurprisingly the rocker soon drew criticism for his post, as Twitter users pointed out he does not have a medical background or expert knowledge on how to contain deadly viruses.

Appearing to respond to the critics, Brown, 57, today added: “So im a Conspiracy Theorist HA! a term invented by the lame stream media to discredit those who can smell and see through the government/media lies and propaganda.” [sic]

And once again, the replies soon flowed in - but this time, a certain Irish duo led the criticism.

Jedward - the X Factor pair who are now best-known for a surprisingly impressive Eurovision entry - replied: “Hi Ian you discredited yourself with your backward views and non logical actionsThumbs up.”

In a second post, they added: “The Public have lost all respect and credibility for your views!

“Your music and cheekbones are a dream [heart emoji] but your tweets are a nightmare.”

Brown is yet to respond to the 27 year olds.

The Stone Roses frontman is far from the first celebrity to draw criticism for airing unexpected views on the coronavirus crisis.

Back at the start of lockdown, Eamonn Holmes received an official warning from Ofcom after discussing 5G conspiracy theories on This Morning.

Meanwhile, Madonna’s Instagram was flagged for spreading false information after she shared a video about the spread of the virus.
