Jedward slam OnlyFans for plans to block 'sexually explicit' content

Jedward have slammed the online subscription service OnlyFans after it announced it will ban “sexually explicit” images and videos from October 1.

The social media platform allows users to charge subscribers a monthly fee in return for exclusive content.

However, the site has gained attention in the media for its more explicit users, who earn huge amounts by growing their subscribers.

Jedward took to Twitter to slam the social media site for “banning sex workers”.

They said: “Only fans is banning sex workers! They need to have respect for all their content creators!”

Other users were quick to support the singing duos tweet saying, “Only fans are disgusting for doing that! This is people’s income it’s so wrong.”

Another said, “They built an empire off the back of sex workers and now that it suits them, are turning their back on them”.

However, OnlyFans has said they were forced to change their guidelines following pressure from banks and payment processors who raised concerns about the material on the site.

Under OnlyFans new guidelines, people will still be allowed to post nude content, but it will have to be considered with the company's updated policies.

In a statement, they said: "Effective October 1, 2021, OnlyFans will prohibit the posting of any content containing sexually-explicit conduct.

“In order to endure the long-term sustainability of the platform, and to continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines.

"We remain dedicated to our community of 130 million users and over 2 million creators that have earned over $5 billion on our platform."

“OnlyFans remains committed to the highest levels of safety and content moderation of any social platform.
