Jedward say X Factor bosses are 'desperate' to sign them up for celebrity shake-up

Jedward boys John and Edward Grimes have confessed they heard of rumours of a celebrity version of The X Factor two years before reports emerged.

They now claim ITV bosses are “desperately” trying to get them to sign up to the ITV talent series, set for a major shake-up later this year.

With talks of past contestants returning for a special series, rumours have been circulating over which stars may be back on the stage to face the judges.

Jedward have now claimed that they have been asked to join the series, and they’re considering it.

Speaking on Loose Women on Thursday, the boys said that bosses had emailed them, and are keen to get them on the show.

The Irish duo are pretty divided though over whether they would go back, because of how far they’ve come in the industry.

John teased: “I heard of this a couple of years ago actually, I remember it in the background.”

His brother then decided to put speculation to bed, and confirmed they could potentially return to the series.

Edward revealed: “Well I can tell everyone that they’re trying desperately to get me and John.

“They’ve been emailing us, we haven’t confirmed it but they’ve asked us, they definitely want us.”

John seemed keen to make a comeback on the show, telling the panellists: “I think it sounds exciting,” adding: “We’re open for anything, you know? We’d give it a shot.”

Edward, however, was more coy over whether he’d do the show again, explaining: “The thing about it is I don’t wanna go back and rewind what I’ve already done.

“We’ve progressed, we write our own songs, I don’t want to go back and do Britney Spears or Ghostbusters.”

Mirror online have contacted a representative for the show for comment.
