Jed Hoyer, in one of his first duties as Chicago Cubs president, promoted 15 members of his baseball operations department — but he still is looking for a general manager.

Jeff Greenberg and Craig Breslow were named assistant GMs, joining Randy Bush.

Greenberg, who joined the organization in 2012, recently served as director of pro scouting and baseball operations. The graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia Law School interned in Major League Baseball's labor relations department and with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Arizona Diamondbacks.

Breslow, who pitched in the majors for 12 seasons, will serve as vice president of pitching in addition to his assistant GM duties. He enters his third season with the Cubs and served last season as director of pitching/special assistant to the president and GM. Breslow graduated from Yale in 2002 with a degree in molecular biophysics and biochemistry.

Other promotions include Chris Moore as vice president, research and development; Matt Dorey, vice president, player development; Louie Eljaua, vice president, international scouting/special assistant to the president and GM; Alex Suarez, senior director, international player development and operations; Greg Davey, director, baseball operations; and Jeremy Greenhouse, director, strategic modeling in the baseball operations and research and development group.

Moore, who holds degrees from UC Davis and Princeton, joined the Cubs in 2013 as director of research and development. Dorey, entering his 10th season with the Cubs, served as director of amateur scouting for six seasons before serving as senior director of player development last season. Eljaua signed Miguel Cabrera in 1999 for the Marlins and was instrumental in the signings of Eloy Jimenez, Gleyber Torres and Jorge Soler for the Cubs.

The Cubs also promoted international crosschecker Gian Guzman to director, Dominican Republic scouting. Other promotions include Meghan Jones, assistant director, baseball operations administration and strategic initiatives; Garrett Chiado, senior player evaluation analyst, research and development; Nate Halm, pro personnel specialist; Adam Unes, coordinator, minor-league operations; Alex Smith, coordinator, major-league data and development; and Jackson New-Smith, baseball operations assistant.

Jones served the last two seasons as manager, baseball operations administration. Halm joined the Cubs in 2012 as a video assistant and recently served as assistant director, advance scouting – run prevention.

Hoyer, who took over for Theo Epstein, said last week he would look outside the organization to find his replacement as GM.
