Jeanine Ann Roose dead: It's A Wonderful Life star dies aged 84 after 'suffering infection'

Jeanine Ann Roose, who appeared in festive classic It's A Wonderful Life, has died aged 84, TMZ has reported.

The actress reportedly died at her home in LA on New Year's Eve following a months-long health struggle.

According to the publication, she had had an infection in her abdomen - which was not Covid-related - which she had been grappling with for a couple of months.

She is best known for playing the little girl, Violet Bick, featured in the 40s Hollywood hit.

Speaking about her experience on set, Jeanine said previously: "It's A Wonderful Life was the only movie that I was in and it been an amazing lifetime experience to have been in such a collectively meaningful picture."

The movie had been her only film credit and she went on to attend the University of California, Los Angeles and went on to become a Jungian psychoanalyst.

Prior to starring on It's A Wonderful Life, she made a few TV appearances, including on The Jack Benny Program at aged eight, The Fitch Bandwagon and The Phil Harris-Alice Faye Show.

She wed Eugene Richard Auger in 1964 and she went on to have three children.

Jeanine linked her career choice with It's A Wonderful Life, previously saying: "It became clear that my desire was specifically to help others who were struggling with finding meaning in their life -- not unlike Clarence in the movie who helps George see the meaning of his life."
