Jeanie Buss expresses ‘100 percent’ confidence in Rob Pelinka

After another rough season of turmoil that concluded without a trip to the playoffs despite having LeBron James, Lakers Exceptionalism is back and better than ever.

Despite the fact that LeBron James had his streak of 13 seasons finishing in the top five in the MVP voting snapped at last night’s NBA Awards show, Lakers owner Jeanie Buss was positively beaming about the future of her team.

Here are some quotes from her last night via Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times.

“I’ve always had confidence in Rob, whatever the speculation is out there,” Buss said “We don’t need outside media to validate the things that we do. I’m very happy and I think we’re on the right path.”

“I have 100% confidence in him in running his basketball operations,” Buss continued. “He’s brought us a great new head coach in Frank Vogel, whose teams have had a lot of success in the playoffs and who have played consistently ranking high in defense, which means not only does he emphasize defense but the players buy into his defensive schemes.”

Buss has a lot of reason to be excited, such as the trade for Anthony Davis that is expected to officially go through when the free agent moratorium is over on July 6.

In addition to the trade for Davis, the Lakers are expected to have around $20 million in cap space to pursue free agents to build a team around Davis, James and Kyle Kuzma.
