Jean Slater to be rocked by devastating death news on EastEnders

EastEnders favourite Jean Slater is left devastated on the BBC soap next week, as news of a shock death is revealed.

The character is in good spirits amid her cancer battle at the start of the week, as she grows closer to fellow patient Daniel who she met at the hospital during treatment.

While initially reluctant to get to know him, Jean has started to bond with the newcomer and next week they spend some quality time together.

After growing closer, Jean will be left heartbroken later on in the week when she learns some heartbreaking news about her new friend and potential love interest.

Jean sees son-in-law Martin Fowler is back in Walford, and hopes her daughter Stacey has also returned.

But her hopes are dashed when she finds out Stacey is still away, after she was forced to flee following her attack on Phil Mitchell.

Amid her despair, she receives some news about Daniel that leaves her heartbroken.

Jean is told that Daniel has died, just days after their time together.

As she tries to accept the news, her complacent reaction about his death leaves Kush Kazemi concerned about her.

He makes her see just how much Daniel meant to her, and she decides to attend his memorial service the next day.

Kush attends the service with her to support her, with it hosted by Daniel's neighbour Mike.

But can Jean get over the heartbreak?

Elsewhere, Martin is also at breaking point with Stacey not able to return home. Phil's son Ben has kept the weapon and uses it to blackmail him - but can he change his mind?

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
