Jean-Kevin Augustin has sent a message to Leeds United supporters after his move to Nantes was confirmed.
The striker joined the Whites in January on loan from RB Leipzig in a deal that resulted in a legal battle between the two parties.
The German club claim Leeds were obligated to buy Augustin as part of the terms of the loan if they were promoted but the impact and timing of the COVID-19 pandemic left a cloud of doubt over the legalities behind the agreement.
The Frenchman's time at Elland Road was plagued by injuries, with the striker making only three appearances and no starts in the Championship.
As a result, Leeds were reluctant to purchase Augustin and the club even opted against extending his loan beyond June 30 when the season was extended due to lockdown.
RB Leipzig commercial director Florian Scholz threatened legal action against Leeds but the striker has now got a new club, which will leave Leeds hopeful that the matter is now resolved.
Ligue 1 club Nantes have confirmed the signing of Augustin on a two-year contract, with reports suggesting he has left on a free transfer.
Augustin has sent a message to Leeds supporters following the move on social media.
He wrote: "Just a quick message to thank all the @LUFC fans that have been supporting me since day 1.
"I wish the club to do well and keep on shining in PL #MOT."
