Jean-Kevin Augustin linked with new club amid dispute between Leeds United and RB Leipzig

Former Leeds United loan flop Jean-Kevin Augustin has reportedly found a new club.

L'Equipe, via GFFN, report that the striker has an agreement with Ligue 1 side FC Nantes.

Interestingly, it has been claimed that Augustin is signing for the French team on a free transfer.

Augustin was at the heart of a legal battle between Leeds and RB Leipzig over the Whites' refusal to sign the 23-year-old in the summer.

Leeds took Augustin on loan last season with the obligation to sign the Frenchman permanently should they win promotion.

Yet injuries meant Augustin could manage just three appearances in February before the season was suspended due to the coronavirus.

The Whites opted against extending Augustin's loan when the season restarted and argued that this the clause to sign the striker permanently had expired despite them subsequently winning the Championship.

RB Leipzig argued otherwise, with commercial director Florian Scholz threatening legal action against Leeds.

It meant Augustin was in a no man's land, with reports in Germany claiming he was having to train away from the German club.

Whilst it is currently unclear whether Leipzig did eventually launch legal proceedings against Leeds, GFFN speculate that the fact Augustin is moving to Nantes on a free transfer suggests that the dispute between the two clubs has been resolved.

Augustin had previously been linked with a move to Turkish club Istanbul Basaksehir, yet it looks like the Paris-born attacker is returning to his home country.
