Paramount+ has announced that they have acquired the rights to produce an adventure series titled 'Zorro' (working title), featuring Jean Dujardin, the Academy Award-winning actor known for his role in 'The Artist,' as the legendary character Diego de la Vega. The show, created by Benjamin Charbit and Noé Debré, has generated significant anticipation and has been picked up by Paramount+ for distribution in France, the U.K., Italy, Germany, and Latin America.

The eight-part series will see Jean Dujardin sharing the screen with renowned Italian comedian Salvatore Ficarra, as well as a talented ensemble cast including Audrey Dana, André Dussollier, Eric Elmosnino, and Grégory Gadebois. The show is set to debut on Paramount+ before being released on France Télévisions.

Set in 1821, the series follows the story of Don Diego de la Vega as he assumes the role of mayor of Los Angeles and confronts a corrupt businessman named Don Emmanuel. The production of the series is being handled by Marc Dujardin's Le Collectif 64 and Julien Seul at Bien Sûr Productions, with the script penned by Charbit, Debré, and Emmanuel Poulain-Arnaud. The direction is in the capable hands of Jean-Baptiste Saurel and Emilie Noblet.

International sales for the series are being managed by France tv distribution, the commercial arm of the French broadcaster. Jean Dujardin, who recently starred in the comedy series 'Alphonse' for Prime Video in France, is set to bring his talent to the iconic role of Diego de la Vega.

Additionally, there are multiple 'Zorro' reboots in development, including a film directed by Jonás Cuarón starring Gael García Bernal, and a series helmed by Javier Quintas and produced by Secuoya Studios. The series is being distributed worldwide by Mediawan Rights.

With the announcement of Jean Dujardin's portrayal of Diego de la Vega, fans of the iconic character can look forward to a fresh take on the legendary hero in this highly anticipated series.
