A jealous thug who threatened to shoot his friend after accusing him of sleeping with his girlfriend was jailed after police found the weapon hidden down his trousers.
Kevin Harrison, 40, had been drinking with the victim when he pointed the loaded gun at his head.
He accused his long-term friend of having an affair with his girlfriend and warned the 54-year-old victim: "I'll shoot you".
The man managed to escape and raised the alarm following the incident at Dovey Tower in Nechells, Birmingham, on February 11.
Armed police swooped on Harrison's flat and found a 380 Glock pistol and 23 rounds of ammunition wrapped in a carrier bag stuffed down his pants.
Harrison, of Birmingham, admitted possessing a firearm and ammunition with intent to cause fear of violence.
He was jailed for six years and eight months at Birmingham Crown Court.
Detective Constable Steve Lewis, of West Midlands Police CID, said: "Harrison and the victim were friends at the time but during the argument the victim told us he genuinely feared his life was about to end.
"The gun was pointed at his head and he believed it was loaded.
"We got officers to the scene quickly and caught Harrison with the gun and ammunition.
"It was always going to be difficult for him to explain why he had an illegal handgun and 9mm bullets hidden down his trousers - and he went on to admit his guilt in court.
"This was a significant recovery, a lethal weapon and several live bullets taken off the streets and potentially saving lives."
