Jealous monster stabbed ex-girlfriend to death after spotting her on date with another man

A man stabbed his ex-girlfriend to death during a 'frenzied attack' in her kitchen after seeing her on a date with another man.

After weeks of causing criminal damage and sending "malicious" messages, Abdelaziz El Yechioui Ourzat murdered his former partner of 12-years.

Ourzat, 29, had moved from Spain to the UK in 2018 with Cristina Ortiz-Lozano, 28, and lived in Liverpool before moving to Southampton.

In August 2019, Ourzat, of King Georges Avenue, was charged a number of offences including failing to provide a specimen of breath and criminal damage. He was bailed with conditions not to contact Cristina.

Later that month he was charged for breaching those conditions after sending "malicious" emails to his ex-partner.

But on September 21, 2019, Cristina went on a date with a 30-year-old man on Southampton High Street.

During the evening, Cristina spotted Ourzat enter the pub they were in before leaving a minute later.

Worried that they had been seen, Cristina and her date decided to go back to an address on Spear Road.

When they arrived, Ourzat was waiting outside.

Cristina let herself into the property and Ourzat followed her into the kitchen where he carried out his brutal attack.

Ourzat inflicted multiple stab wounds to Cristina's neck, chest and abdomen.

Police were called and officers attended with paramedics, but tragically Cristina was discovered lying on the kitchen floor and pronounced dead at the scene.

Ourzat was found by police in the garden. He was taken to Southampton General Hospital where he was treated for stab wounds to his chest and other minor injuries.

Following CCTV analysis, police were able to track Ourzat’s movements prior to his attack.

He was seen on CCTV following Cristina and a 30-year-old man along London Road, towards Spear Road where the murder took place.

Despite admitting responsibility for Cristina’s death and entering a guilty plea to manslaughter at a previous hearing, Ourzat denied murdering her.

Yesterday (Thursday, 18 February), the jury at Winchester Crown Court convicted Ourzat of her murder. He will be sentenced on March 17.

Detective Inspector Toby Elcock from Hampshire Constabulary’s Major Crime Team said: “This was a brutal attack on a young woman who had her whole life ahead of her.

“The court heard how El Yechioui Ourzat’s abusive and jealous behaviour culminated in the brutal murder of Cristina. Our thoughts remain with Cristina’s friends and family who are still dealing with this unimaginable loss.”

“Cristina’s death is an absolute tragedy that has left her family and friends devastated. I would like to praise them for the courage they have shown throughout the investigation and the trial.

"This has been made even more difficult for Cristina’s family because they have had to access the trial from Spain due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I would also like to thank local residents who helped us with our enquiries."
