Far right influencer and close Donald Trump pro-bono advisor Laura Loomer just got into a misunderstanding with Vice President JD Vance after he made a speech at a pro-life event in Washington, DC. Loomer believes that “abortion messaging” could make them lose the upcoming midterms.
On Jan. 23, the March For Life rally was held in Washington, DC, bringing together tens of thousands of pro-life activists who came to see GOP politicians celebrate the overturning of Roe v. Wade. Speaker Mike Johnson gave an anecdote about his conception to a teenage couple that happened just one year before Roe v. Wade was ratified, and how he was grateful for being alive. Vance shared support for the increasingly conservative agenda of pronatalism, where he celebrated with the crowd about how he’s expecting a fourth child with the Second Lady, Usha Vance.
However, according to Loomer, they should all just stop talking about abortion altogether. With her reputation for being very close to the ear of the president — even worrying some former MAGA members — Loomer spoke with authority, telling the GOP that Trump doesn’t want to hear them talking about abortion. According to her, this is the reason they lost the midterms in 2018.
Vance is very unlike his predecessor, Mike Pence, in that he doesn’t believe in staying silent when challenged. Ultimately, whoever has Trump’s endorsement is king in MAGA. Or at least, heir apparent. Vance snapped back at Loomer, saying that not only was Trump supportive in texts, he was actually the one who encouraged Vance to accept the invite from the March For Life organizers. According to the VP, Loomer and influencers like her are just sowing more divisions within an already fractured GOP.
Loomer’s issues with Vance go back further than just this week. And they’re much more personal than their opinions on the desired results for a pro-life movement. During the 2024 presidential campaign, Loomer — who now poses as an expert at avoiding antagonizing the other side of the aisle — thought it was a good idea to make racist remarks about Kamala Harris’ Indian heritage by saying Vance’s predecessor “smells like curry.” Vance, whose own wife is Indian, has never quite seen eye to eye with Loomer since.
Ironically, Vance shutting down Loomer was actually something both sides could agree on. Liberal influencer and co-host of The Young Turks, Cenk Uygur, gave Vance credit for calling out Loomer. The two do not agree on much, and according to Uygur, this is one of the best things the VP has going for him. Marjorie Taylor Greene also thanked Vance. But Loomer responded with a long post saying that Trump is pro-life, actually, and even said that the word “abortion” is controversial because it always messes up their messaging with voters.
This has nothing to do with abortion. There is only one issue Laura Loomer cares about. Credit to Vance that Loomer is unhappy with him. That's the best thing he's got going for him. Unless you're on your hands and knees groveling to Israel, Loomer will never be satisfied.

MAGA will always have its infighting about which is more important: taking U.S. policies as far right as they possibly can or sounding as moderate as possible around election season. And considering Loomer has now decided to take more personal swipes at Vance for not protecting his wife and Erika Kirk enough from external criticism, it’s unlikely they will make up any time soon.

As for the average voter, the concern will likely be more about healthcare and the cost of living than whatever latest culture war the inner circle of the president is currently enchanted by.
