JD Vance’s latest holiday to a quiet part of the U.K. known as the Cotswolds has caused a great deal of controversy as his secret service entourage have apparently descended upon the rural town Vance is staying in and demanded residents give them their personal details and social medias all in the name of security it seems.
Of course, the idea of a group of people going door-to-door and demanding Brits hand over all their details so that someone like Vance can enjoy his holiday has rubbed more than a few people the wrong way. This is the same man who claimed that Europeans annoyed him, and now here he is, in Europe, being annoying.

In a clip from The News Agents podcast which was recently shared online, host Jon Sopel shared complaints from residents of Dean, the sleepy town which Vance was holidaying in.
“We’ve had the police knocking on every door, they wanted the names of everybody living there and details of their social media. I know several people who refused.”
Sopel went on to say the residents were right to do so as it was “none of your bloody business,” (referring to Vance’s secret service of course).
The secret service deny the allegations
While the inconvenience Vance has caused is undeniable, the Thames Valley Police denied asking residents for social media handles to pass on to Vance’s secret service detail. However, locals maintain that they were asked to hand over such details. As well as the statement Sopel read on his podcast, another individual also made similar claims according to LBC.
“I live in the area he is staying and it’s on lockdown. The US special forces have been knocking on people’s doors asking names, social media handles, obviously people refused.”
The move was understandably criticized online by people who couldn’t believe the nerve of Vance and his detail to make such demands, especially considering how often the VP preaches about anti-censorship.
JD Vance and his laziness
Trump’s VP has sort of gotten himself a reputation for shirking his work. For someone in such a high position he takes an awful lot of time off on holiday with his family. Last month he was off with his family to Disneyland where they apparently had the island shut down so that he and his family could enjoy their holiday. This, of course, no doubt ruined many other holidaygoers’ experiences which they likely had to do a great deal of saving to be able to afford.
Vance is not only lazy, but it seems as though he ruins things for other people wherever he goes. His presence in the U.K. has also greatly inconvenienced residents of the town with “lockdown” style road closures. He hasn’t exactly been welcomed into the town of Dean and it’s easy to see why.
