Vice President JD Vance has not been seen recently fighting off his critics on X. The real reason, as reported by the New York Times, is that White House chief of staff Susie Wiles advised him not to engage in petty social media fights as they are below his dignity. But now White House spokesperson Steve Cheung said this never happened and this is completely fake news. "This isn’t true. We denied it to the New York Times and they refused to run our quote. Complete fake news. This supposed “conversation” never happened," Cheung said.
NYT reported that Vance used to frequently scroll his phone at meetings. President Trump too posts on Truth Social a lot bur he does not reply to people online but Vance used to. "Susie Wiles, Mr Trump’s chief of staff, recently advised Mr Vance to take a break from social media, as have other officials in the West Wing, according to people familiar with those interactions, because the fighting was beneath his office," the report said.
JD Vance recently said that he took a break from X for Lent (penitential preparation for Easter, involving fasting, abstinence, and almsgiving, in imitation of Jesus Christ's fasting in the wilderness) which began on February 18 and ended on April 2. But he said he still has not reinstalled X on his mobile.
