SALT LAKE CITY _ Detroit Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy decided to shuffle the deck Friday night against the Utah Jazz.
With Kentavious Caldwell-Pope joining Jon Leuer on the injured list, back-up center Aron Baynes was inserted into the starting lineup at power forward.
And it was Beno Udrih in for Ish Smith at backup point guard, with Reggie Bullock back into the rotation after injuries and being away from the team for personal reasons.
It didn't make one difference.
After making only two of its first 10 three-point attempts, the Jazz then went 14-for-21 from downtown to run the Pistons out of Vivint Smart Home Arena with a 110-77 victory.
Rodney Hood led the barrage with a 7-for-8 shooting night from three-point range in scoring 27 points.
With the 16-for-31 three-point barrage, the Pistons (18-24) have allowed 10 of their past 12 opponents to make at least 10 threes.
And while the Jazz was delighting the home crowd in dropping the Pistons to 1-3 on this five-game trip against the Western Conference, the Pistons starting lineup struggled to score.
With Baynes at power forward, Marcus Morris moved to shooting guard with Tobias Harris at small forward.
But it took the Pistons more than 4 minutes to score their first basket, and in the second half, they only managed six points in slightly more than 6 minutes to start the second half.
But when Baynes left midway through the third quarter, the Jazz did erupt, turning a nine-point lead into a 33-point lead late in the fourth quarter.
Harris led the Pistons with 13 points with Morris scoring 11 points on 3-for-15 shooting. Andre Drummond had 19 rebounds and nine points.
George Hill scored 22 and Gordon Hayward added 20 for the Jazz (25-16).
It looked like the rout was on when the Jazz jumped to a 10-0 lead with the Pistons missing their first five shots and committing two turnovers.
But Detroit slowly climbed back and used a 13-2 run to take a 13-12 lead after Morris found Drummond for a dunk.
The Pistons eventually took a 19-14 lead into the second quarter after holding the Jazz to 25 percent shooting.
The Pistons extended their lead to seven points, but Hood (13 points in the quarter) and Boris Diaw fueled the Jazz, taking a 45-40 lead late in the second quarter.
Reggie Jackson's three-pointer just before halftime cut the deficit to 45-43. The Jazz shot 75 percent (12-for-16) in the second quarter.
