Jayson Tatum out vs. Brazil with ankle injury

After Team USA advanced to the second round of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup behind yet another strong performance from starting point guard Kemba Walker, this time against Giannis Antetokounmpo and Greece, they were set to face Brazil and their well-regarded national team.

However, per ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum remains out for Team USA after spraining his ankle against Turkey. Walker missed Sunday’s shootaround with an illness but was available for the start of Monday’s game.

Walker and center Myles Turner have scored 10 points a piece against Brazil, leading Team USA, who hold a 43-39 lead at halftime.

Should Team USA emerge victorious, Tatum should be able to play against their next opponent.
