Jayson Tatum apologized to Janet Jackson for the Celtics not beating the Hawks sooner

The Celtics eliminated the Hawks in the postseason, but it took a bit longer than Atlanta-based Janet Jackson fans would have hoped.

Jackson is on tour and was set to perform at State Farm Arena on Thursday night. But the Hawks were able to force Game 6 thanks to a season-saving 3-pointer from Trae Young.

As such, Jackson’s arena concert was moved back to Friday (which is the same night Taylor Swift will perform at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta).

Atlanta ultimately fell short during Thursday’s game against Boston, and during his walk-off interview after the game, Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum issued an apology to Jackson for inconveniencing her schedule.

Here is what Tatum said:

“I want to say an apology to the legend Janet Jackson. We were supposed to close it out in Boston and she had to postpone her show. I hope she sees this. You know I apologize for that. But we got it done today.”

Good for Tatum for acknowledging that the Celtics should have won earlier if for no other reason than for the Empress of Pop.
