When you sign the richest contract in the history of the NBA, people tend to take notice. That is exactly what happened to star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown, who signed his historic supermax contract extension with the Celtics earlier this week. The five-year, $304 million extension includes a trade kicker and no player or team option.
Brown evidently had friends, family and current and former teammates reaching out to him to congratulate him for securing a bag with generational wealth in it, including some celebrities that might surprise fans of the former Cal standout.
Speaking to NBC Sports Boston’s Chris Forsberg, Brown revealed the most unexpected congratulatory call he received that day, one made by a man who started his own basketball league as a third act after a career as a rap pioneer and an actor.
