Boston Celtics fourth-year shooting guard Jaylen Brown is officially doubtful for Thursday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Cal-Berkeley product is recuperating from a strained hamstring sustained in the Mar. 3 loss to the Brooklyn Nets.
The team has been exceptionally cautious with the young wing’s health, as he’s previously strained his hamstring — an injury with a high degree of recurrence.
Brown was slated to workout today to see how the hamstring felt, and it doesn’t sound like the results were especially promising.
But with 18 mre games to go before a postseason Boston will likely need every bit of help they can get for a deep run, playing it safe with the Georgian’s leg is absolutely the right call.
The good news is that if Brown does sit, he is at present the only person on the team’s injury report. On the other side of the court, the Bucks’ star player Giannis Antetokounmpo is also questionable for the contest with a sprained knee.
While it will be a letdown if either of these two dynamic players has to sit for the contest, with the global Coronavirus pandemic threatening to put fans themselves on the ‘questionable’ list or even postpone games altogether, perhaps we should be grateful for any basketball at all to watch.
