Jayde Adams sees herself as 'Bristolian Bette Middler'

Bristol comedian Jayde Adams says she sees herself as a 'Bristolian Bette Middler' while appearing on a celebrity special episode of The Chase. The Strictly Come Dancing star brought a laugh and a smile to the audiences as she attempted win as much as she could for the team's prize pot.

Jayde, 38, and her team - made of The Vivienne, Naughty Boy, and Tony Cottee - faced Chaser Paul Sinha in tonight's episode of The Chase: Celebrity Special. The comedian earned £2,000 in the cash builder and was quickly caught by The Sinnerman, but that didn't stop her from dropping a few surprising bombshells on show host Bradley Walsh during her short appearance.

After Bradley praised Jayde, who was born in Bedminster, on her appearance on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing last Autumn he asked if she was still dancing, to which she replied she was. The host then commented on her acting and comedy talents, including her show Men, I Can Save You at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2022.

"Let me ask you this, right. Are you carrying on dancing?"

"Oh yeah," Jayde confidently replied to applause from the audience.

"And you've got acting as well," Bradley continued. "Which do you prefer?"

Jayde said: "I think probably the best way to describe it is whose career do I see myself having. And I see myself as a sort of Bristolian Bette Midler." The audience erupted as Bradly burst into laughter.

Jayde does seem to be a woman of many talents as she also revealed on the show her previous role as an Adele impersonator. For the first five or so years of her career, the multi-talented star acted - and sang - as the award winning musician, accent included.

"I was an Adele drag queen for the first four or five years of my career," she admitted.
