Jayde Adams' new ITV sitcom casts two unknown Bristolian actors including chef from Pucklechurch

Two unknown Bristolian actors are set for starring roles in a new ITV sitcom created by Bedminster’s Strictly Come Dancing star Jayde Adams.

Filming has now begun on the new ITVX comedy called Ruby Speaking, which follows the exploits of a ‘fun and irreverent member’ of the customer service team at a fictional Bristol call centre called Hellocom.

The show, which has been written by Abigail Wilson, stars Jayde Adams as Ruby, and also stars Bristol acto Joe Sims as Tom. Back in October, Jayde appealed in Bristol for any young, would-be actors to come forward and audition for roles in the new series, and two more Bristol faces are going to be on screen.

Dan Hiscox was a chef from Pucklechurch until he answered Jayde’s Bristol casting call, but is now playing Craig in the new series, which is set in a Bristol call centre, while Old Vic trained Kiera Lester is playing the character of Melons.

“Newly-single Ruby is a fun and irreverent member of the customer service team at the Bristol call centre of Hellocom,” a spokesperson for ITVX explained. “The life and soul of her workplace, Ruby struggles to read from the prepared script that work and life have foisted upon her, choosing instead to walk her own chaotic path.

“Ruby Speaking follows Ruby and her ragtag bunch of colleagues at the Hellocom call centre as they live, love, laugh and enter a choir competition they have no business being in.

“Joining the cast are Katherine Kelly as Vicki, Sam Swainsbury as Mark, Joe Sims as Tom, Jamal Franklin as Cameron, Nicky Goldie as Donna, Amy-Leigh Hickman as Ellie, Dan Hiscox as Craig and Kiera Lester as Melons.

“This new 6 x 30 series from Yellow Door Productions is written by Abigail Wilson and is executive produced by Lucy Lumsden. The series is directed by Rosie Gaunt-Mathieson and produced by Jon Macqueen. It will air later this year on ITVX, the new free streaming site from ITV,” he added.
