It looks like Jay-Z has quietly responded to Kanye West‘s shocking remarks about his children, and he did it in the most Jay-Z way possible – with a subtle lyric switch on stage.
On Sunday, Jay-Z made a surprise appearance at Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour stop in Paris, joining his wife for a run of their classic hits. But it was during his performance of “N****s in Paris” – the 2011 banger he originally released with Kanye – that fans noticed something was different.

Instead of rapping the usual line, “Just might let you meet Ye”, Jay-Z switched things up and said, “Just might let you meet Bey”, clearly referencing Beyoncé.
The moment was caught on fan videos and quickly made the rounds on social media. As reported by Page Six, reps for both Jay-Z and Kanye haven’t commented on the lyric change yet.
This all comes a few months after Kanye made headlines for posting offensive and ableist tweets about Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s twins, Rumi and Sir.
In a now-deleted tweet, Kanye wrote: “WAIT HAS ANYONE EVER SEEN JAY Z AND BEYONCES YOUNGER KIDS. THEYRE R******D NO LIKE LITERALLY.”
The comments were widely condemned online.

Kanye later expressed regret for the tweets, calling them some of his “worst” – or maybe his “best” and “strongest” – during an interview with DJ Akademiks. He apologised again in April, posting on X: “I’m sorry Jay Z.
“I be feeling bad about my tweet but I still feel I gave my life to this industry and thought so many people were my family but when I needed family on some real shit none of these rap n****s had my back.”
However, Kanye immediately followed up with another inappropriate comment about Beyoncé on the same day.

Jay-Z and Beyoncé have mostly kept quiet about the drama. A source told Page Six in March, that the couple were “discussing how they want to handle this situation, whether that be privately and/or in a legal matter”, and that they would “absolutely not stand” for the “vulgar and offensive” statements.
Jay-Z hasn’t directly addressed Kanye’s comments about his kids in public. But this lyric change seems to be a pretty clear message about where he stands.
Jay-Z and Kanye’s relationship has been rocky for years. They started out as close collaborators, with Kanye even signing to Jay-Z’s label in the early 2000s. But things have soured over time, with public spats and plenty of awkward moments.
Back in 2017, Jay-Z opened up to The New York Times about their “complicated” bond, saying: “He’s my brother. I love Kanye. I do. It’s a complicated relationship with us… There’s certain things that happened that’s not really acceptable to me… But there’s genuine love there.”
For now, Jay-Z and Beyoncé are focused on their family and their music, while Kanye continues to make headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Whether this lyric change is the last word on the matter remains to be seen, but it’s clear Jay-Z isn’t letting the comments slide.
