Jay-Z, P Diddy and Fall Out Boy were amongst the musicians making an 11th-hour pledge in support of Barack Obama at the Uptown Theatre in Philadelphia.
Jay-Z channelled black political heroes of the past, saying: "I need y'all to be really, really quiet for this. I need you to really understand what I'm telling you. Rosa Parks sat so Martin Luther King could walk. Martin Luther King walked so Obama could run. Obama's running so we all can fly."
Diddy, meanwhile, felt like it was the power of he himself that ensured Obama's potential victory. He told the Associated Press: "I felt like my vote was the vote that put him into office. It was down to one vote. And that may not be true, but that's how much power it felt like I had."
The real-life Sean Combs queued up to cast his vote in a school in midtown Manhattan.
He continued: "I'm not trying to be dramatic, but I just felt like, Martin Luther King, and I felt the whole civil rights movement, I felt all that energy, and I felt my kids. It was all there at one time. It was a joyous moment."
Fall Out Boy's never-short-of-a-word bass player Pete Wentz placed his vote for the Democrats in Beverly Hills. He told the same news agency that his parents would not have met had it not been for Joe Biden, since his parents met on an early Biden campaign trail. Which means the Democrats are responsible for Fall Out Boy - change that perhaps not everyone can believe in.
