Jay-Z confirms plans for first London show in more than a decade

Rapper Jay-Z is set to make his highly anticipated return to London for his first UK solo headline performance in more than a decade.

The US artist, 56, whose real name is Shawn Corey Carter, will celebrate three decades of music with one night at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in September.

The show, JAY-Z30, marks 30 years since the release of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt, and 25 years since his sixth studio album, The Blueprint.

The London show, which will be his first since his Magna Carter tour nearly 13 years, will be one of only two European shows, followed by a night in Paris scheduled for September 10.

The London concert falls on his wife’s birthday. Superstar Beyonce sings on his follow-up 2002 album, Blueprint 2: The Gift & The Curse – featuring on the hit song 03 Bonnie And Clyde.

The show will come days after Beyonce, 44, marks the 20th anniversary of the release of her debut solo album, B-Day – where Jay-Z sings on the track Deja Vu.

Beyonce previously surprised fans and brought out the rapper when she closed out the European leg of her Cowboy Carter tour in June last year.

The US pop star and her husband performed their hit single Crazy In Love during her final date at Paris’ Stade de France.

The pair married in 2008 and have three children – Blue Ivy, Rumi and Sir – and have collaborated on a number of songs over the years including Drunk In Love, Upgrade U and Part II (On The Run).

Jay-Z is known for the hit songs Empire State Of Mind, 99 Problems and Numb/Encore – and is the co-founder of the US entertainment company Roc Nation.

The London performance will follow on from a string of upcoming shows at New York’s Yankee Stadium in July.

The rapper will headline at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with his JAY-Z30 show on September 4.
