Kris Murrin's most public exposure came two years ago on Channel 4, when, as The Woman Who Stops Traffic, she tried to persuade people to get out of their cars and walk in Durham, Boston and Marlow, with mixed results. In Boston she was dubbed The Woman Who Didn't Stop Traffic. Now the committed environmentalist and campaigner has been appointed director of the implementation unit at Number Ten. But one little publicised fact is that the Australia-born, Cambridge-educated psychologist is the sister to another high achiever, Jay Hunt, controller of BBC1, and newly minted scourge of another affliction – high star salaries.
