Jay Gruden wants Redskins to add talent at WR

Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden wants the team to make some changes at wideout.

As one can see from the above quote provided by NBC Sports’ JP Finlay, Gruden talked at the owner’s meetings about being unsure if the team ever got a full return on Paul Richardson last year.

He also made one of his wants for the offseason quite clear: “Gruden says Redskins need more bodies at WR, and he wants those bodies to be talented.”

The Redskins ended up losing Jamison Crowder to free agency. Josh Doctson still hasn’t panned out, so Gruden understandably doesn’t want to bet all of the next season on names like Trey Quinn and Cam Sims, no matter how promising they seem.

With the biggest chunk of free agency over, this likely means the Redskins are looking hard at the position in the draft. But given the problems under center, the “when” part of the equation is quite the mystery.
