Is Jay Gruden the next NFL head coach to lose his job?
The Washington Redskins head coach leads the way in odds at betonline_ag when it comes to coaches fired or leaving the job voluntarily, according to Knox Bardeen of 929 The Game.
Those are 4-1 odds for Gruden, who now has to oversee a three-way competition under center featuring Dwayne Haskins, Colt McCoy and Case Keenum.
Gruden sitting in this position with the odds isn’t too hard to understand though. Injuries or not, last season was underwhelming and the outlook isn’t too great already with Trent Williams holding out and both McCoy and Derrius Guice, among others, already hurt.
While Gruden has a strong history of developing quarterbacks like Andy Dalton, this might be a make-or-break year if Haskins isn’t on the field and making strides. With a change under center for the second season in a row underway, the blame next gets passed to Gruden if things don’t work out.
