Inside linebacker has been a question surrounding the Washington Redskins ever since Reuben Foster went down with his injury this summer.
The Redskins added Jon Bostic to compensate and it sounds like there will be a heavy rotation next to him.
Craig Hoffman of 106.7 The Fan recorded the note from Gruden’s presser:
“Gruden says there will be a rotation at ILB. There’s a place for everyone to play next to Bostic in certain situations or packages. Holcomb, SDH and JHC will all see time.”
That means rookie Cole Holcomb, Shaun Dion Hamilton and Josh Harvey-Clemons will all see some work next to Bostic.
It isn’t the most ideal situation after featuring names like Mason Foster and perhaps Reuben Foster on the depth chart at one point. But the good news is some of these guys — especially SDH — boast some big upside and can learn on the fly.
Defensive coaching was a hot topic last year in Washington, so how the staff utilizes this wealth of options based on the scenario is something fans should be monitoring closely.
