Jay Gruden says the Redskins will choose a starting quarterback on Tuesday

Through a week of training camp practices, the Redskins have made little headway in figuring out who their starting quarterback will be — the three candidates remain neck-and-neck.

Case Keenum, Dwayne Haskins, and Colt McCoy have all shown a number of positive signs so far, but there hasn’t been a player to separate from the pack just yet. If you had to name a leader at the moment, it would probably be Keenum, due to his experience, but that could change at any time.

The preseason officially kicks off for Washington on Thursday when they face off against the Cleveland Browns. While the QB that starts in that game won’t necessarily be the starter for the regular season, it will at least give us all a chance to see how the team might view their hierarchy of signal-callers.

It also appears that we can expect to see that decision sometime soon.

The ultimate decision holds little weight going forward — teams rarely deploy a cemented roster in the first week of the preseason. However, it will be a great litmus test for how the QB competition is going in Washington.
