Jay Gruden says Redskins will play all 3 quarterbacks on Thursday

Redskins coach Jay Gruden has not announced the order in which Washington’s quarterbacks will take the field on Thursday night in their first preseason game against the Cleveland Browns, but he did confirm one thing:

All three QBs will play.

While speaking with the media on Tuesday morning ahead of the Redskins 11th training camp practice, Gruden said that he expects to give his three contending quarterbacks a chance to take the field and run the offense for a bit on Thursday night. What he would not delve into is the order in which they will trot onto the field.

It’s been a mixed bag at the QB spot for Washington already this year, with the three main options — Dwayne Haskins, Colt McCoy, and Case Keenum — showing numerous peaks and valleys of production and understanding of the offense. It is assumed that McCoy currently leads the competition, followed by Keenum, and then Haskins, but the situation is fluid, and no player holds a sizeable lead over the others.

It will be interesting to see who the team gives the nod to on Thursday night, but don’t expect that decision to be set in concrete. There is still a lot of time to make decisions before Week 1.
