Jay Gruden says he won’t make changes to staff this season

Coming out of a humiliating loss to the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football, it was reasonable to expect the Washington Redskins and head coach Jay Gruden would potentially make changes.

But even at 0-3 after the miserable showing, Gruden doesn’t see any such plans as necessary.

From ESPN’s John Keim: “Gruden said he will not make any changes to his staff during the season.”

Other than Gruden’s own hot seat, the next logical coach with a hot seat would presumably be that of defensive coordinator Greg Manusky given the poor play of the defense.

But this talk about the coaching staff matches well with the general vibes coming from Gruden out of the loss — he’s still in win-now mode and thinks the season isn’t lost yet.

Whether that is true remains to be seen, but coaching staff changes might end up above Gruden if the Redskins keep struggling to put up competitive performances.
