Jay Gruden offers updates on Trent Williams and Derrius Guice

Two of the most popular names for the Washington Redskins this training camp have been Trent Williams and Derrius Guice, though neither has seen the field for any preseason action thus far.

On Monday, ahead of the Redskins third preseason game of the year against the Atlanta Falcons, coach Jay Gruden offered the media an aside about the two players, and where they currently stand in their journey back to the field – be it a lengthy timetable or something that is expected to happen quickly.

The most pressing topic of conversation is Williams’ holdout, and that will remain the case until the seven-time Pr Bowler returns to the team. When asked about the situation, Gruden couldn’t offer much different than we’ve heard before.

It’s often said that “no news is good news,” but I’m sure Redskins fans would like an update as to how this storyline is playing out behind the scenes.

Next up is the topic of second-year running back Derrius Guice’s injury status. Guice, who was held out of his rookie year due to a torn ACL, has sat for both of the preseason games, as he is not yet 100 percent cleared by team doctors.

Whenever he is cleared, expect to see a lot of Guice going forward.
