Jay Gruden: Josh Rosen ‘never came up’ for Redskins during first round

The idea of a trade for Josh Rosen wasn’t an uncommon one surrounding the Washington Redskins during the build to the 2019 NFL draft.

After all, the Redskins had other needs besides quarterback and the Arizona Cardinals might have been willing to move Rosen for less than a first-round pick.

But once the draft started Thursday, it became quickly apparent the Redskins wouldn’t reach out to the Cardinals about Rosen.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo caught the nugget of info from Jay Gruden during a post-draft media meet.

Those Cardinals took Kyler Murray at No. 1 and as of this writing have yet to find a trade partner for Rosen.

The Redskins won’t be doing it — they sat still at No. 15 and had Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins fall to them. They get their own first-round quarterback on an affordable rookie deal without having to forfeit any assets, via trade up or for Rosen.
