Jay Gruden: HBO’s ‘Hard Knocks’ would be crazy not to go to Oakland

If you ask Jay Gruden, the HBO Documentary series ‘Hard Knocks’ should follow the Oakland Raiders this upcoming season, not his Washington Redskins.

After the Redksins’ OTA session on Wednesday, Gruden said that the film crew would be “crazy not to go to Oakland,” considering the recent group of players that have decided to put on the Black and Silver, including Antonio Brown, Vontez Burfict, and Richie Incognito. There is also the added addition of Raiders coach John Gruden, who is Jay’s brother, that is intriguing for viewers.

“If we’re forced to do it, then obviously we will make it work,” said Gruden. “I think really if they’re smart, they would go to Oakland — what an entertainment value that would be.”

Gruden may just be trying to push the added pressure on his brother, who recently signed a 10-year deal with the Raiders, but in the end, he accepted that his team would likely be on the show soon, suggesting that they follow the Redskins next year.

As any good reporter would, someone in the media noted that the Redskins wouldn’t be eligible should Washington make the playoffs in 2019.

“If we don’t make the playoffs, I probably won’t be here anyway,” said Gruden.

It may be a bit of an exaggeration, but at least Gruden knows that his job security is up in the air, and he still knows how to have a good laugh.
