Jay Gruden has ‘high hopes’ Trey Quinn will be ready for Week 1

Over the past few years, it hasn’t always been easy to dissect the injury news surrounding the Washington Redskins.

That extends to the current plight of potential breakout receiver Trey Quinn, who continues to battle a nagging thumb issue.

Speaking Tuesday, Jay Gruden at least seemed upbeat about the situation, according to JP Finlay of NBC Sports: “Gruden says there are ‘high hopes’ that Trey Quinn will be ready for Week 1 in Philly”

Regardless of the return timetable, Quinn remains a fixture of the team’s plans from the slot. While the coaches will talk up a spread-it-around attack, Quinn, in particular, will play an instrumental role in the offense for either the veteran Case Keenum or rookie Dwayne Haskins.

While the Redskins have plenty of question marks for Thursday against Atlanta, not to mention Week 1 — Derrius Guice comes to mind — few have a potentially bigger impact on whether the Redskins can leave Philadelphia winners.
