Jay Gruden fights back against idea he’s frustrated with Redskins

Jay Gruden wants the world to know he’s not frustrated with the happenings surrounding the Washington Redskins.

Speculation suggested Gruden was out of the loop and irritated with the team’s offseason so far. But at the owner’s meetings this week, he shot those ideas down.

“There’s a move or two I might be surprised by, but for the most part, I’m on board for all of them,” Gruden said, according to the Washington Times’ Matthew Paras. “So really, it’s good. It works out fine. I think the media there kind of — I don’t know where they got that from. But frustration may set in from time to time for a move or two, but at the end of day, I know that I’m on board and I know that Doug (Williams), Bruce (Allen), Eric Schaffer and Dan are trying to better this football team and try to put us in a position to win.”

Speculation about this point was only natural. Gruden, whether he had a say or not in the decisions, watched as the team threw an $84 million contract at a safety and seemingly made a lateral move at quarterback with Case Keenum.

Even in the above quote, Gruden says he’s “for the most part” fine with the moves, which is an interesting way of putting it. One can only guess as to which ones he didn’t like.

Regardless, Gruden is content to publicly go to bat for the Redskins again as he looks to work with what he’s given on the field.
