Jay Gruden expects Jordan Reed to be ready for Week 1 at Philadelphia

Head coach Jay Gruden is answering questions from the media about whether or not tight end Jordan Reed will be cleared to play in the Redskins next regular-season game. That can only mean one thing:

Redskins football is back, baby.

Reed was knocked out of Washington’s third preseason game of the year against the Falcons after taking a helmet-to-helmet hit from Falcons safety Keanu Neal. It may have been dirty, but Neal has reassured everyone that it didn’t have any malintent.

Now it’s time for Gruden to break out his Jordan Reed folder of coach speak and tell the fanbase that he is hopeful Reed will be ready to play by Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Reed has spent a lot of time in the concussion protocol during his years in the NFL, but unfortunately, that doesn’t make it easier each time. We will keep watching for updates on his status, but be prepared for more “hopeful expectations” from those in the know.
